Background & Aims: Participating in specialized nursing empowerment training programs (ICU-CCU-Dialysis-Emergency) changes individuals' skills. Empowering nurses is very important for providing quality care. Motivation and interest in doing work and achieving goals are among the most important factors determining job satisfaction of medical staff. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of the nurses' empowerment training program on their job satisfaction
Materials & Methods : The method of this study was a semi-experimental, pre-test, post-test design. The statistical population included all nurses working in eight deprived cities of Iran (Ahvaz, Hormozgan, Zahedan, Ilam, Abadan, Zabol, Torbat Jam, and Iranshahr) in 2018-2019. For this study, 120 nurses were selected by purposive sampling (experimental group) and 120 nurses were selected by candidate sampling (control group), (240=120Education intervention and120control). who were matched based on education, gender, work experience, and age. A specialized training program was provided for the intervention group based on Kirkpatrick's educational evaluation model, but the control group did not receive any training. The inclusion criteria for the study were work experience under 20 years and the deployment of the workforce working in special departments of hospitals. The exclusion criteria were work experience of more than 20 years. Then, a training program was implemented for three months (one and a half hours per week). ANCOVA statistical analysis was performed and the data were analyzed using SPSS-16 software.
Results: According to the results obtained by implementing the educational empowerment course, the level of nurses' job satisfaction has increased significantly (P>0.001).
Conclusion: Empowerment training increased nurses' flexibility, job satisfaction, and motivation, and increased productivity in challenging job opportunities. The results of this study can help healthcare officials and policymakers identify factors affecting nurses' skills and performance, and continuous in-service training programs can improve nurses' job satisfaction.
