Abstract:   (13719 Views)

Assessment of the quality of care during prenatal period is a way to protect the health of the mother and consequently the well being of the society, low birth weight, high newborn mortality and preterm delivery are the results of low quality of care. LQAS is a cheap and also fast approach to assess the quality of care given in parental phase. In this approach all responsible units are to be compared with standards and also with each other, and in order to do so, we conducted a descriptive study, in which 18 health centers were the participants. Data were collected through check lists and questionnaires.

Our findings showed that only one center was the worst in providing prenatal care, and the rest provided acceptable level of care, we also found that referral cards and ferrous sulfate tablets are not enough in our city.

To conclude, the quality of prenatal care in Astara city can be labaled as “accepted”.
