  Abstract

  Background & Aim: Students’ attitude towards their field of study could affect quality of health care. This study aims to determine the attitudes of operating room students of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences towards their field of study.

  Material & Methods: It was a descriptive, cross- sectional study. The subjects were all operating room students of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in their second semester of academic year 2013- 2014. Data was collected by student's attitude questionnaire and was analyzed by descriptive and analytical statistics methods (Chi-Square test) using SPS-PC (v. 18).

  Results: The findings showed that 61.4% of students were female and 86.8% were single and mean score of their age was 20.87. Of all students, 51.8% had a positive attitude towards their field of study. According to the results, there was a significant relationship between marital status and education semester and students' attitude towards their field of study (P=0.037 and P=0.004 respectively).

Conclusion: Regarding the clinical training problems in operating rooms, providing an appropriate environment in operating rooms to improve students’ attitude is recommended.
