This is a descriptive survey to define the incidence of co-existing disease in patients undergoing eye surgery before
anesthesia in hospitals of the Ministry of Health and Education in 1993.
In this survey 2000 patients ' records have been studied who were admitted 10 the hospitals. Collecting of data
was done by checklist that contained questions about the condition of the heart and lungs, liver, kidneys, presence of
diabetis mellitus or hypertension and previous cerebral vascular accident.
Findings of this study are summerized in 20 tables of frequency and standard deviation and mean values.
The incidence of co-existing disease in cases before anesthesia was 96.2 % with hypertension having the highest
incidence among co- existing disease. These findings lead investigator to make some suggestions for fallow-up
research. Application of this study in medical areas especially in anesthesia of patients undergoing eye surgery.Rights and permissions | |
