زمینه و هدف: بیماران دارای استومی گوارشی دوره‌هایی از تنش‌های روانی و جسمی از جمله اختلال در خودکارآمدی را تجربه می‌کنند. تصور می‌شود عواملی مانند هوش هیجانی می‌توانند با خودکارآمدی در بیماران، مرتبط باشند. این مطالعه با هدف تعیین همبستگی هوش هیجانی با خودکارآمدی در بیماران دارای استومی گوارشی انجام شده است.
روش بررسی: این پژوهش یک مطالعه توصیفی همبستگی بود که با همکاری 155 نمونه (79 مرد، 76 زن) بیمار دارای استومی گوارشی ( کلستومی و ایلئوستومی) که در سال 1397 به بیمارستان‌های منتخب دانشگاه علوم پزشکی ایران و انجمن استومی ایران مراجعه نمودند انجام یافت. روش نمونه‌گیری به شیوه در دسترس بود. ابزار پژوهش شامل فرم اطلاعات جمعیت شناختی، پرسشنامه خودکارآمدی استومی و پرسشنامه هوش هیجانی Schutte بود. تجزیه تجلیل داده‌ها در نرم افزار SPSS نسخه 16 و با استفاده از روش‌های آمار توصیفی و آمار استنباطی، آزمون ANOVA و تی مستقل انجام شد.
یافته‌ها: بر اساس نتایج ضریب همبستگی پیرسون، همبستگی مثبت و معنی‌داری بین هوش هیجانی و خودکارآمدی وجود داشت (001/0>0=P) (49/0 r=). هرچند که بین هوش هیجانی با مشخصات جمعیت شناختی بیماران رابطه‌ی معنی‌داری یافت نشد. اما بین خودکارآمدی با مشخصات جمعیت شناختی بیماران در بعد وضعیت تأهل ارتباط معنی‌داری وجود داشت (03/0=P)، بدین صورت که بیماران متأهل از سطح خودکارآمدی بالاتری برخوردار بودند.
نتیجه‌گیری کلی: بیمارانی که هوش هیجانی بالاتری داشتند از سطوح خودکارآمدی بالاتری نیز برخوردار بودند، توصیه می‌شود با برنامه ریزی و اجرای مداخلات آموزشی در زمینه‌ی هوش هیجانی، قدمی مثبت در جهت افزایش خودکارآمدی این بیماران برداشته شود
