زمینه و هدف: آموزش بیمار به عنوان یکی از استانداردهای کیفیت مراقبت پرستاری به شمار می‌آید. برنامه‌های آموزشی نقش مهمی در افزایش آگاهی دانشجویان پرستاری دارند. مطالعه حاضر با هدف تعیین تأثیر آموزش به روش ایفای نقش بر میزان دانش دانشجویان پرستاری در زمینه آموزش بیمار انجام شده است.
روش بررسی: این مطالعه به صورت نیمه تجربی بر روی 74 دانشجوی پرستاری دانشگاه علوم پزشکی ایران انجام گردید. نمونه‌گیری دانشجویان به روش سرشماری صورت گرفت و واحدهای مورد مطالعه به طور تصادفی به دو گروه کنترل و آزمون تقسیم شدند. محتوای آموزش بیمار ابتدا در گروه کنترل به روش رایج در دانشکده و سپس در گروه آزمون به روش ایفای نقش ارائه شد. سپس با استفاده از پرسشنامه سنجش دانش محقق‌ساخته، دانش دانشجویان در زمینه آموزش بیمار در هر دو گروه مورد بررسی قرار گرفت.
یافته‌ها: نتایج نشان داد که روش آموزشی ایفای نقش موجب بهبود سطح دانش دانشجویان در زمینه آموزش بیمار شده است. میانگین نمره دانش دانشجویان در گروه آزمون (85/63%) نسبت به گروه کنترل (41/46%) بالاتر بود و این تفاوت از نظر آماری معنی‌دار بود (001/0> P).
نتیجه‌گیری کلی: آموزش به روش ایفای نقش می‌تواند بر دانش دانشجویان پرستاری در زمینه آموزش بیمار تأثیرگذار باشد. پیشنهاد می‌شود ایفای نقش در بیش از یک نیمسال و به همراه کاربرد سایر روش‌های آموزش فعال در برنامه‌های آموزشی دانشجویان مورد استفاده قرار گیرد.
