Background : The prevalence of childhood behavioral disorders are high. Although some of the childhood behavioral disorders decreases by the child's growth, but still there are many behavioral disorders which effect their future and produce adulthood disabilities.
Objective : To determine the prevalence of behavioral disorders in school age children in shahr- kord.
Design : This was a descriptive study. The prevalence of children's behavioral disorders were assessed by Rotter's questionnaire.
Samples : 1000 of school age children (boys and girls) were selected from the primary schools of shar- kord.
Results : The prevalence of behavioral disorders estimated to be 42.2% . There found to be a significant association between the place of the school, educational status, parent's level of education, parent's vocation and behavioral disorders of the children.
Conclusion : Anxiety and inability to communicate effectively with teacher and classmate has an destructive effect on children education with normal IQ. Decrease in educational achievement must be assessed with more accuracy. History of unsuccessful education along with other adaptive behavior in children can be an acceptable criterion for behavioral disorders.
