Background and aims Work culture can provide a suitable environment for hard work, creativity, initiatives, innovations, a sense of commitment and responsibility, work conscience, social discipline, and ethics in society. This study aimed to examine the role of work-family culture and work-family conflict in the psychological well-being of nurses working in Tehran’s public hospitals.
Materials and Methods This descriptive-correlational study was conducted using a field research method. The statistical population included 200 married nurses from Tehran’s public hospitals serving COVID-19 patients. A sample of 127 was selected via stratified proportional sampling based on the Krejcie and Morgan table. Data were collected using the Work-Family Culture Questionnaire (Thompson et al., 1999), Work-Family Conflict Questionnaire (Carlson et al., 2000), and Psychological Well-Being Questionnaire (Page, 2005), and analyzed with SmartPLS 3. Questionnaire validity was assessed through confirmatory factor analysis, and hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling.
results Work-family culture had a significant positive effect on psychological well-being. Work-family conflict showed a significant negative effect on well-being, while work-family culture significantly reduced conflict. Work-family conflict significantly mediated the relationship between work-family culture and well-being.
Conclusion Enhancing work-family culture and reducing work-family conflict can improve nurses’ psychological well-being, contributing to the design of organizational interventions.
