Background and Objective: People with high resilience find it easy to tolerate pain and suffering and are less exposed to stress. This study aimed to investigate the effect of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) on stress and resilience of infertile women.
Materials and Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted from mid-February 2022 to mid-August 2023 on 98 women with infertility problems who referred to two government and private clinics in Bandar Abbas city with a 1:1 allocation into two intervention and control groups. Participants in the intervention group received 4 training sessions with an interval of one week. The demographic, infertility stress, and Connor and Davidson resilience questionnaires were completed before and after the intervention. Data analysis was performed with SPSS-16 software and independent and paired t-tests were used.
Results: The mean stress before and after the intervention was 168.06±34.06 and 134.59±26.02 in the intervention group, and 155.26±31.08 and 156.83±31.28 in the control group, respectively. After the intervention, the stress in the intervention group was lower than the control (P<0.001). The mean resilience score before and after the intervention was 64.26±20.13 and 97.97±63.9 in the intervention group, respectively, and 71.83±30.33 and 95.12±049.71 in the control group, respectively, which indicates an increase in resilience in the intervention group compared to the control (P<0.001).
Conclusion: Emotional release technique can reduce the stress level of women with infertility problems and increase their resilience level. This inexpensive, safe, and easy solution can be recommended by healthcare professionals to infertile women to increase resilience and reduce stress.
