Introduction: Due to the increase in the number of patients with cerebrospinal lesions around the world, a large number of people take care of these patients as family caregivers, who suffer from physical, psychological, social, and economic problems, and seek to accept the role of caregivers, who take care of the burden of care. It is called continuous support of these caregivers can reduce their care burden in them. This study was conducted to investigate the impact of the continuous care model on the care burden of caregivers of patients with cerebrospinal lesions.
Research method: The present study is a semi-experimental study that was conducted in Kamiyaran city in winter off 1400. The collection tools in this study included a demographic questionnaire and a care burden questionnaire. 96 patients were selected as available from the patients covered by welfare. and they were randomly divided into control and control groups, and after selecting the samples and filling out the questionnaires, the steps of the follow-up care model were performed on the intervention group. After the intervention, the questionnaires were completed again by the two groups. In this research Independent t, Mann-Whitney paired t and Wilcoxon tests, one-way analysis of variance, Kruskal-Wallis, Pearson, and Spearman correlation coefficient was used to analyze research hypotheses using SPSS version 16 software.
Findings: Based on the results of the chi-square, independent t, Mann-Whitney, and Fisher tests, the two groups were the same in terms of demographic variables (p>0.05), and after the intervention based on the follow-up care model, there was a significant difference in the care burden of caregivers in the group. The intervention was observed (p<0.05), but in the control group, this difference was not significant (p>0.05).
Result: The results show that the continuous care model is effective in reducing the care burden of caregivers of patients with cerebrospinal lesions. It is suggested that the continuous care model be used for caregivers of other chronic diseases.
