Comparison of Compliance of Patient's Rights in Emergency Departments

Observance of different dimensions of patients' rights plays a very important role in their satisfaction and improvement of health and observance of patients' rights is an inevitable treatment priority and necessity for nurses. This study aims study aimed to determine and compare the level of compliance of patients' rights from the perspective of nurses and clients referred to the emergency department of selected hospitals in Golestan province in 2020. In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 185 nurses and 370 clients referred to the emergency department were studied by available sampling method. A demographic information checklist and a questionnaire related to compliance with the Charter of Patients' Rights were data collection tools. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 16. The results showed that the majority of nurses in the age range of 25 to 35 years, were natives with 4 to 6 years of work experience. The clients were mostly women, married, native and of average economic status. The rate of compliance of the Patients' Rights from the perspective of nurses was higher than patients (75.6% with a mean of 3.72 29 0.29 and 74.88% with an average of 3.80 17 0.17). ) But was not statistically significant (P = 0.31). In the field of "attention to patient welfare and comfort", the average from the nurses' point of view was significantly higher than patients (P = 0.04). From both patients 'and nurses' perspectives, "polite treatment of the patient" had the highest score and "respect for the right to free choice and decision" had the lowest score. Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that the level of compliance with the rights of patients in the emergency department of Golestan hospitals is moderate and there is no difference between the level of compliance from the perspective of patients and nurses and hospital officials need to take measures to create a space for patient awareness. Provide for their rights and the most accurate implementation of laws related to the observance of patient rights by emergency personnel in order to provide better quality care services to patients, increase the level of client satisfaction.
