AU - Soghra Khani, TI - Pregnant women's attitude towards mothering role (1993) PT - JOURNAL ARTICLE TA - IJN JN - IJN VO - 13 VI - 20 IP - 20 4099 - http://ijn.iums.ac.ir/article-1-1335-en.html 4100 - http://ijn.iums.ac.ir/article-1-1335-en.pdf SO - IJN 20 AB  -   This study is a correlation research carried out in order to determine pregnant women's attitude towards the   mothering role and its relationship to the onset and duration of nausea and vomiting .   This study included 130 women who were patients , at health treatment centers in the city of Sari had   previous delivery and had no known physical or psychological illness at the time of the research which   included nausea and vomiting . All subjects ' gestational age was less than 18 weeks.   To collect data, a three part questionnaire was constructed . The first part was concerned with the   characteristics of the participants . In the second part, their attitudes towards the mothering role was   assessed and the third part contained data about the onset and duration of nausea and vomiting .   In analyzing the data, descriptive and inferal statistics were used. This research data were collected in   absolute and comparative frequency distribution tables and in order to determine the relationship between   pregnant women 's attitude towards the mothering role and variables such as age , age at first pregnancy,   years of marriage, educational level , number of pregnancies, occupational status and income of the fam ily   and also to determine the relationship between pregnant women 's attitude towards the mothering role and   onset and duration of nausea and vomiting, the chi-square and fisher exact test were used .   The results of this study revealed that the majority of clients (43%) were 20-24 years old and the age at   marriage of56.1% of clients less than 20 years. Age at first pregnancy in 43.9% of clients was between 20-24   years. 56.9% were married less than one year. 37% had primary school education, 93.7% were house-wives and   48.5% were from low income families.   The result of this study shows that the majority of subjects (70%) had a neutral attitude towards the mothering   role and also a majority of them (61.54%) had nausea and vomiting, 23.85% had the symptoms for 3 months .   The findings of this study showed that there is a relationship between the level of income of the subjects and   onset and duration of nausea and vomiting . Also the results of this study showed that there is no relationship   between the attitude towards the mothering role and the onset and duration of nausea and vomiting .   In conclusion, the researcher hopes that the authorities of the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical   Education and staff midwives of health treatment centers find the contents of this study beneficial in   decreasing nausea and vomiting .   This study can be further developed in the same line. The investigator based on the findings of this study   suggests that further research can be done in this respect, such as the effects of onset and duration of   nausea and vomiting on pregnant women’s attitude towards the mothering role or determination of effective   factors on the onset of nausea and vomiting and pregnant women's attitude towards the mothering role .
